"My Kingdom is not of this world"
– Jesus Christ, John 18:36.

     Every day I have to remind myself to which Kingdom I belong. It is so easy to get caught up in the things of this world and yet every Christian should know that we have been bound through the Blood of Christ to Jesus’ Kingdom, and His Kingdom is not of this world.

     In Matthew 4:8 Jesus is challenged with the seductiveness of this world:

     Again, the devil took Him (Jesus) up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed Him all the Kingdoms of this world and the glory of them; and the devil said to Him, “All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”

     Notice what it takes for Satan to give us this world and its glory; we have to fall down and worship him. Not a single day goes by that I’m not tempted to bow. It’s easy. In fact it is so easy that is seems down right normal. Our world has become such a cesspool of lying and deceit that bowing has become a normal activity for us all. The result, however, is that nobody trusts anybody. Lying has become such a part of our society that knowing the truth is virtually impossible.  It is so rampant among our elected officials that it has produced lines like this:

Question: Do you know when your elected official is lying?

Answer: When his/her lips are moving.

     God hates all lying and deceit because it is in direct opposition to the truth. He states in Revelation 21:8 that all liars will have their part in the lake that burns with fire. But right now we must understand that God will never honor a lie and if we are lying as a person, a church, or a nation, God will not honor us.

     As an individual we may understand the blessings that come from the Father. Those blessings, however, are compromised by a lying heart and tongue. God will not bless a family if the father of that family is having an affair on the side. For the blessings to materialize in that family the lie must first be renounced and forgiveness applied.

     It is the same for our country. God will not honor America if our leaders are liars. It doesn’t matter how justified the lie may be, it is still wrong in the eyes of the One who has the power to help us. To Him it is simple; when we lie we give glory to the father of lies who was a liar from the beginning.

     When Cain killed his brother, Abel, in the beginning of Creation, God asked Cain: “Where is Abel your brother?”

Cain’s response, “I don’t know.”

     Only a short time before the murder, God had told Cain this:

     If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it” – Genesis 4:7.

     Let me paraphrase this verse to help us understand its content:

     If you do what is right and just, then everything will go well with you according to My design. But if you go against my truth and accept the lie, then missing My acceptance and My blessings are inevitable. Realize it is your choice but if you choose the lie, then you open the door for that way of life and your life will always be controlled by the lie, thinking that wrong is right.

     Ever since we kicked God out of our country and embraced the lie, the truth of this verse has been the same for us. Like Cain, we have chosen unwisely. Think of all the things in this country that are wrong and yet we tolerate them as right. As God predicted from the beginning our government is ruling over, or by way of, the lie. It could not exist as it is without the lie.

     What is the answer? It is always God’s Word. The Word of God always exposes the lie and brings light into darkness. The secular government knew this and that is why the lie of separation of Church and State was introduced. The Constitution does NOT call for the separation of Church and State. In fact, it is just the direct opposite. Our founding fathers knew the power of the lie but they also knew the power of the Word. Most of our laws and decrees that founded this country are based on the truths found in the Bible. Our leaders did not want separation of Church and State; they wanted the government to stay out of religion. But they fully intended for God to be in the State. In the beginning of this country, some states made it impossible for a person to run for public office unless that person was a Christian. Again we have been lied to.

     Standing against the lie must become a priority of every Christian and every Church if this nation is to survive as a democratic Republic. God has given man dominion over this earth and it is up to us to rule by way of the truth found in God’s Word. We can start by renouncing the lies in our own life.  Then ask the Holy Spirit to give us discernment to recognize all lies and to expose them and destroy them whenever we have the opportunity. We have to understand that no matter how small it is, we cannot tolerate the lie. I remember as a child the old Superman series. At the end of every show, Superman would stand with his hands on his hips and an American flag in the background. The announcer would proclaim in the background: “Superman, for truth, justice, and the American way.” What a great platform for us today. If the American way is to prevail, truth and justice must come to the forefront and the lie must be destroyed.
