Prisoners Still Asking For Bibles

     We have sent over
120 Bibles to the Correctional Units at Pine Bluff, Tucker, Newport and Texarkana. There are still many inmates who are asking for an embossed Bible. Please help us meet this need.  If you would like to donate a Bible to one of these inmates, e-mail and ask for a name.

President's Corner

by Brent Holt

As we enter this New Year, I would like to thank everyone for their dedication to the mission and vision of Bibles Cover The Earth.  It has certainly been an interesting year and this next year promises to be even more interesting!
As we watch and read the news today, everything seems bleak and ominous.  It is easy to despair and feel like there is no hope.  It is in times like these that we as Christians have our biggest opportunity to shine or fail.  Society has come to expect us as Christians to act like everyone else does, and that is not a flattering thing.  I hope that through participation in your church, ministries, and programs like Bibles Cover The Earth, you can be salt to the world as spoken of in Matthew 5:13.
John 4:23 reads, “
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”  In this verse, the word truth comes from the Greek word, alethes, and literally means “as not concealing”.  In other words, we must worship in a way that does not conceal the love and goodness of the Father.  I believe we can do that with the way we live our day-to-day lives.  People need to know the truth of Christ to overcome the despair the world constantly challenges them with.
If, because of these difficult times, you have lost some of your enthusiasm about Bibles Cover The Earth, let me encourage you to first get into the Word and let it build you up and help you in these difficult times.  Then, as the Word helps you, go out and give a Bible to anyone you come across that seems to be having a hard time.  There is nothing that can be more useful and relevant in today’s world.

Bible Verse of the Month

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Happy New Year!

The Bibles Cover The Earth staff pray that all of you have a blessed and happy 2009!  A lot has happened since our launch in March of '08 and we are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us this new year.
So many people in the world right now are hurting and worried.  Bibles Cover The Earth hopes to help meet the needs of the hungry, the thirsty, and the sick; to help minister to the strangers, the naked and those in prision (see Matthew 25: 34-40).  In 2008, we got off to a great start and with your help sent a great number of Bibles to many inmates in the Arkansas prison system.  Of anything else you did in 2008, can you think of anything that could potentially have more of an eternal impact?  With prayer and dedication, we look forward to 2009 being an even greater year for the glory of the Lord.

What am I doing here?

Do you ever wonder that?  I think every Christian, and probably every person in general, asks this question at some point in his or her life.  I suppose a lot of people, including Christians, sometimes go through their entire life and don't ever adequately answer this question for themselves.

As Christians, I believe we all have a purpose in being here.  Scripture tells us that we did not choose God but rather he chose us (John 15:16).  If that is the case, we can assume that there is some reason that he chooses us; that we are a part of His plan.  As we experience our day-to-day activities, I think we as Christians often pray for God to show us our purpose.  It goes something like this: “God, please show me what I am supposed to be doing.”  Sound familiar?  The problem comes when God doesn't blast us with some grand plan for an earth shattering mission.  I think we often wrongly assume that if we ask God what He wants us to do, and we don't get a clear response or answer, He must not be ready for us or, worse, that He doesn't want us to do anything.  We might take the attitude of, “God, I'm here when you need me.” and then just go about our worldly life thinking we've done our part.  We might think that we are enlisted in some kind of heavenly National Guard and that as long as we give our one weekend here and there that God will let us know the next time there is some catastrophe that He needs us for.  However, as Christians, we are not in the reserves, we are enlisted full-time.  Living in a secular, democratic, post-1960's do-what-you-feel-is-best-for-you society, we have a hard time as Americans realizing what it means to enlist full time into the service of the King of Kings.  Discussing this may help us understand our original question of “What am I doing here?”

First, in the service of the King we give up our rights to anything. This goes in the face of our American world view.  It seems we are always talking about our right to do this or that.  The inalienable rights spoken about in the Declaration of Independence are inalienable only because they are the rights our Founding fathers saw as the ones given by God to all men.  Since they are rights given by God, no man or government should be allowed to take them away from you.  But if they are given by God, then it is He that controls them.

Secondly, we agree to do things His way, according to his rules.  In Deuteronomy 30, God quite plainly explains that we can do things His way and receive the benefits, or we can choose not to do things His way and expect to suffer the consequences.  And, according to His rules, it is an all or nothing deal.  We either keep all the rules all the time, or we fail.  If it seems impossible,  that's because it is.  Only Jesus followed all the requirements, and it is only through Jesus that we have our hope to not face condemnation on the day of judgment for all the times we did things our way instead of God's way.  He has paid our fine for our guilt and only through Him can we stand in the presence of a perfect God.

Thirdly, we exist for Him and His glory, and this leads me to my original point.  Some people do seem to have bigger ministries and seemingly bigger roles in life, but all of us have the same purpose as does all of creation.   In fact, Jesus even had the same purpose.  If you've prayed for God to show you what He wants from you, well, here it is: Our purpose is to glorify the Father.  That may seem like a simplistic and anticlimactic answer but, if you think about it, glorifying the Father is both incredibly simple and incredibly difficult at the same time.  If you had to give yourself a report card on how well your life is glorifying the Father, how would you do?  Fortunately, if we have made Jesus Lord of our lives, He has already provided us a passing mark but that doesn't excuse us from getting a good grade in conduct, so to speak. We glorify God through our belief in Jesus for our justification (since Jesus is the mode and method He set to accomplish that), and then, from the point in time when we align ourselves under the banner of Christ, we glorify God by helping people see the Father and His love in all of our actions (which we do because of our belief in Jesus).  In other words, our salvation glorifies the Father through Jesus and our changed lives and resulting actions glorify the Father through Jesus.  If we live and act as Christians (i.e. followers of Christ), God is glorified.

As we enter this new year, let us praise God for accomplishing all things through Jesus.  Let us remind ourselves that our one and only purpose is to glorify Him.  Then, with all that in mind, let us take on this new year knowing that there is more going on than just evil things.  God is sovereign and He is in control. To God be the glory! -BH

THE SECRET PLACE

I am concerned by what I see happening within our country. Greed has caused our nation and a whole lot of people to suffer badly. One minute the nation is going under if Congress doesn’t bail out the large banks and the next minute the Fed chiefs won’t even divulge where the money was spent. They claim executive immunity.

Because of the corruption, the lying, and the deception by our officials I believe we are in for some very rough times ahead. Many lives will be affected in a very negative way. The possible collapse of the dollar could cause a shortage of supplies and even food.

I share this because of some things that the Lord shared with me years ago. One was five years ago and one was two years ago. The revelation five years ago was this:

A time is coming that will be terrible for the people of the earth but will be a great time for the Kingdom of God.

The second revelation concerned the start up of Bibles Cover The Earth:

This business is to help the Body of Christ financially because Satan is getting ready to heavily challenge every church in the area of finances and attempt to cut off their revenues thus causing them to cease.

When I received both of these words I didn’t have a clue what they meant. At the time things were going very well. Almost a year has passed since we started BCTE and we have tried very hard to “spread the Word,” but it has been slow in convincing people of our vision.  We have worked hard at trying to make this business as simple and as impacting as we can.  This business was designed with three things in mind:

1.      Get an Embossed Bible into the hands of every person who wants one

2.      Provide income for those who wish to work at spreading the Word of God

3.      Be a Kingdom business that gives its profits away for the building of the Kingdom of God

What I failed to realize at the time is just how much these things are important to the future of our nation as well as to the Body of Christ. Regardless of what’s coming at us, there is only one solution and that is the truth, and there is only one source for the truth – the Word of God.

The more people are equipped with the truth the more they can weather any storm. I believe this with all my heart. Every day I pray the prayer of Psalm 91. I have prayed it so much that I now know it by heart. It states that if I am dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, God will be my Source, my Supply, My Protector, as well as my Shield in times of duress.

A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you – Psalm 91:7.

I believe this is a Word for us at this time, but how many people around us know this promise and its power to protect them? I believe we will be given a greater opportunity in the months and years ahead to share the Word with others because I believe the fulfillment of both revelations I received years ago is upon us.

Many have wondered about Psalm 91 and pondered the “secret place.” I believe the secret place is in Covenant with God through the Blood of His Son, Jesus, uniting us to such a relationship that we hunger for the Word. We desire to live on every Word that proceeds from the mouth of our Father God. Jesus lived there. He stated that He never did anything without seeing the Father do it first. In other words, He never made a move without the Father’s direction. Something that has always amazed me is this: For the JOY set before Him, Jesus endured the Cross (Hebrews 12:2). Folks, that is fellowship. He wanted you and me to have His Spirit and His Word in us so much that He allowed Himself to be beaten to a pulp and nailed to a Cross. Think about that. Every time He thought about the potential available to us through His Spirit, the Cross seemed trivial in comparison.

But why is there so much potential? Because of the power of truth.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you FREE – John 8:32.

Free from what? Whatever comes our way. When Jesus stood before Pilot, He made this statement:

To this end was I born and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears My Voice – John 18:37.

Every one that is of the truth hears My Voice. Does that "every one" include you? How many people around you does it include? This is so important. Regardless of what lies ahead in our future, it is so imperative that we make the Word of God a priority in our lives and at the same time realize that the hurting world needs the Word of God in a tremendous way.

As this New Year begins, I encourage all of you to listen to what’s going on in our world. You do not have to go out looking for it, it will find you. And when it does and you start looking for answers or solutions, remember the potential of the Word. And when others start coming to you looking for answers, and they will come, be ready to shine the light of the Word into their situation.

There are so many people and churches right now who could benefit from BCTE’s vision. The Word of Truth is the only hope for whatever arrives in our future. I encourage each Embossing Center to realize the potential they have to impact the lives of others by simply sharing the BCTE vision with another person. One at a time we can change this world through the power of a small book – the Bible. Let’s help every person we can find the “secret place.” -DFH

Prayer For Your Geneaology

On the back of your instruction booklet is a prayer for your genealogy. God can only build this business and we can only succeed if we are praying for ourselves, our geneaology, and the company. Please either make a copy of the back of the instruction booklet or tear off the back and stick it on your refrigerator where you will be reminded every day to pray. There is truly strength in corporate prayer.
